Sunset on Pacific Coast Highway
Everything is changing. The trick is to figure out how not to lose ourselves in the sea of change around us. I am finding that most things I once held onto as a given are evolving. My view of the world is changing and solidifying. However in the midst of this evolution (revolution?) within and around me, I am realizing that I must recall the things that make me “me.”
There are, of course, things about every single one of us that need improvement and fine tuning. At the same time, we all have characteristics that make us each unique and keep us grounded. It is too easy to let those things go by the wayside in these periods of change. With all of life’s stresses and commitments, I oddly often forget to take the time to coddle the good within myself. When I finally do take the five minutes to breathe or the time to call an old friend or even the break to dream about what it is I really want, I recognize the tools within to help me reach the other side of whatever life’s current adventure may be.
So, today I designed some last minute additions for our Spring 2012 collection before tomorrow’s photoshoot. I visited a new healer in LA. I laughed with a friend on the phone. I hugged my mom twice before heading back home. I realized that, while I have the desire and the need to face the changes in front of me, I also honor the importance of embracing what I know to be true, comforting and encouraging within myself and the life I have created.
