If you could knit anything without concern of time or money what would be it?
Oh, there are so many things….. I’d love to cover something big like an old VW bus, vintage trailer, trees, monuments, etc. There is inspiration all around. Really, the possibilities are endless.
Favorites
3 Things you have knitted: Flagpole, bike, doorknob.
Magazine and/or Blog: Sunset Magazine, it always has the best seasonal recipes & west coast travel ideas.
Adesso Piece: I have so many favorites! I am a big fan of the signature Adesso bracelets, they are so fun to stack & layer. I don’t think you can have enough! I’m loving signature #15 right now.
Quote: “Let the beauty you love be what you do. There are a thousand ways to kneel and kiss the earth.” – Rumi
Color: I am really inspired by the colors of the places I travel. Pinks, reds, oranges, golds, greens, turquoises, earth tones, I love color.
Scent: To wear, patchouli; to burn, Nag Champa.
Designer and or artist: Fiber artist Magda Sayeg & her super cool knit gang, ‘Knitta Please.’
Piece of clothing: Do shoes count? If so, my clogs. I have had them for almost 15 years. They are so comfortable and look cute with everything.
Locale: Big Sur, CA
Museum and/or Gallery: The Mingei International Craft Museum in San Diego. If you haven’t been, go! It has everything from textiles to jewelry to pottery to furniture from craftsman/artisans around the world. Amazing.
Etsy shop: All of it. I love all things handmade.
Pinster: My friend Lynne, she has great style & always pins the best stuff. I have to stop myself from ‘liking’ everything! I’m slightly obsessed with Pinterest.
Season: Autumn – I love the change in weather, scarves, sweaters, boots, holiday craft projects, butternut squash pasta & canning the summer’s harvest.
It’s between teleportation (for obvious travel reasons) & invisibility. I LOVE to people watch, but sometimes I forget people can see me staring at them (in the most non-creepy way, of course).
Which accessory do you never leave home without?
My large woven African bag full of smaller accessories, including my Klean Kanteen & a knitting project.
What knitting or fiber arts project would you recommend to a beginner that wanted to create something before the holidays?
A scarf or fingerless gloves are always good beginner projects and perfect for this time of year.
What quality do you most admire about a person?
Openness & warmth
What was the best advice you were ever given?
“Make space for what you love.”
